PMMVY: The government has decided to launch a new scheme to provide financial assistance to women. This scheme is based on the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) already implemented at the Centre. The government is planning to implement it in Telangana also.

The Central Government launched the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) in 2017 to provide financial assistance to pregnant and lactating women. Under this scheme, Rs 5,000 is provided for the first pregnancy. Additional assistance of Rs 6,000 is provided on the birth of a daughter for the second time. The implementation of this scheme in the state is monitored by the Women and Child Welfare Department.

The department has recently sent a proposal to the government for the implementation of this scheme in the state. An amount of Rs 5,000 will be given in three installments during the first pregnancy. Rs 1,000 at the time of pregnancy registration, Rs 1,000 after six months of pregnancy, Rs 2,000 after the birth of the child and Rs 2,000 after the first round of vaccination will be deposited directly into the bank accounts of women.

A lump sum assistance of Rs 6,000 is provided in case of birth of a girl child in the second pregnancy. The Central Government has started this scheme to promote the birth of girl children and prevent female foeticide. Anganwadi workers in the state will identify eligible women, enroll them and take up the responsibility of providing the funds in instalments.

At present, although PMMVY is implemented in many states of the country, it has not been fully implemented in Telangana. Therefore, the amount released every year by the Center to Telangana under this scheme has been stopped. To prevent poor pregnant women and lactating mothers from getting its benefits, the Revanth government has decided to implement this scheme in the state.

Through this new state scheme, financial assistance will be vital in ensuring the well-being of women and providing a healthy environment for future generations. Government officials, Anganwadi workers and all concerned departments are working hard for the smooth implementation of this scheme.

With the launch of this scheme in the state, every woman will get the opportunity to get financial security, pregnancy care and child health. Officials hope that through this scheme, poor women and mothers of Telangana will get proper assistance and their standard of living will improve.
