Gold worth Rs 51 lakh recovered from the flight from Shahjah, smuggling of gold is continuously increasing at the airport


Amritsar : The Customs Department at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport has recovered gold worth Rs 51 lakh and 25 thousand pounds from the luggage of passengers of two different flights during checking.

According to the information, Indigo airline flight no. 6E 1428 arrived at airport from Sharjah. Meanwhile, all the luggage was taken out one by one from the flight. After this the Custom Department inspected the craft. Meanwhile, a packet was found on the floor of the washroom of the plane, when it was opened, six gold biscuits were found in it. Apart from this, an electronic device was also recovered. During investigation, the weight of the gold biscuit was found to be 700 grams, whose value was Rs 51 lakh 45 thousand.

Meanwhile, during the checking of luggage of the flight from London, foreign currency was recovered at the airport by the Customs Department. According to the information, flight no. AI 16 took flight from London and reached Delhi airport. Flight AI 480 related to this flight took off from Delhi and reached Amritsar. After the flight reached Amritsar, when all the luggage was scanned in the CISF scanner, something like currency was seen in one of the bags. After this, the customs department conducted a thorough investigation and recovered 25 thousand 900 pounds. Its total price in Indian currency is Rs 26 lakh 91 thousand.
