Global Politics: White House dismisses the speculation of ‘Trump’s visit to Pakistan’

News India Live, Digital Desk: Recently the White House has taken a tough stand on the speculation about former US President Donald Trump’s visit to Pakistan. The White House dismissed these reports outright and called them ‘baseless’ and ‘wrong’. All these speculation had intensified since the statement of the lawyer of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. Imran Khan’s lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat had claimed that the US had proposed to Donald Trump to come as an observer in Pakistan’s election. He even said that Imran Khan himself contacted Trump through Bushra Bibi and requested him to consider the proposal. According to Marwat, letters were also exchanged between the two in this connection. Reacting to this immediately, the National Security Council (NSC) spokesman of the White House Edrien Watson clearly stated that all these speculation are “completely wrong and unfounded”. He clarified that the US government does not offer any decision regarding Pakistan’s upcoming elections, especially a former President like Donald Trump, who is now a private citizen. Watson also underlined that the President, who administration of Biden, does not take any side nor tries to influence the internal affairs of Pakistan, especially its election results. The white house has been stance that the US focuses on strengthening democratic institutions in countries around the world in its foreign policy. The US administration clearly believes that they do not play a role in determining or affecting the results of elections in any sovereign country. The statement comes at a time when Pakistan is going through a period of its political uncertainty. In the intervention, the White House has strongly rejected Trump’s visit to Pakistan and any possibility of US intervention in the election, which has put a halt to these misleading speculation.
