IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand, December 17, 2025 – Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) successfully concluded the International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology, Bioprocessing and Structural Biology (ICABSB-2025). This four-day global scientific conference was organized in collaboration with Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI). Nearly 200 invited speakers and over 700 delegates from more than 40 countries participated in the conference, reaffirming IIT Roorkee’s role as a major center of international collaboration in advanced biosciences.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by many eminent experts, including Professor T.P. Singh (Distinguished Professor, AIIMS, New Delhi), Professor Carol Post (Purdue University, USA), Professor Sudhir Sopori (Chairman, BRSI), Professor Jose Teixeira (University of Minho, Portugal), Professor Ashok Pandey (CSIR-IITR, Lucknow), Professor K. Of. Pant (Director, IIT Roorkee), Dr. Binod Parameswaran (CSIR-NIIST, Trivandrum), Shri Sanjeev Singh (Reliance Industries Ltd.) and many eminent scientists from India and abroad were present.
ICABSB-2025 Compendium, BRSI Yearbook 2025 and new scientific publications of Taylor and Francis were also released on this occasion.
The outstanding achievements of the scientific community were recognized at the BRSI Awards Ceremony held during the conference. On this occasion Professor T.P. Singh Distinguished Professor Award And to Professor Pravindra Kumar BHU Centenary Award Honors were given in various categories including.
The four-day long conference featured advanced thematic sessions on biofuels, bio-processing, structural biology, drug and vaccine development, innovations in circular economy, sustainable agriculture and other emerging scientific areas. A special achievement of the program was that it provided a dedicated interactive platform for school students to present their scientific work to the international scientific community, thereby encouraging early participation in research and innovation.
Professor K. Of. Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee said, “ICABSB-2025 reflects how India is shaping the global bio-innovation landscape. Professor Carol Post (Purdue University, USA) in her address said, “ICABSB-2025 has been an extraordinary platform to advance scientific dialogue at the intersection of biotechnology, bioprocessing, and structural biology. The diverse perspectives presented here reinforce the essential role of global collaboration in ensuring transformative achievements in human health, sustainable materials development, and environmental resilience.”
Professor Sanjay Ghosh, Chairman, ICABSB-2025 and Head, BSBE, IIT Roorkee, said, “This conference has strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration in the areas of bioprocessing, structural biology and sustainable biotechnology. The knowledge exchange here will accelerate innovations that strengthen health, environmental protection and industrial sustainability at the global level.”
The discussions at ICABSB-2025 directly advance India’s national priorities and global sustainability commitments. The theme of the conference was the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—specifically good health and well being, clean and accessible energy, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Responsible consumption and production And climate action—contribute to. The conference will discuss the National Biotechnology Development Strategy, Bio-Economy 2030 Vision, Make in India, self-reliant india, Waste-to-Wealth Mission And National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture Like it was also fully coordinated with national structures.
Conference coordinator Professor Pravindra Kumar expressed his gratitude to all the invited experts, delegates, participating institutions and organizing committees.
