Due to heavy rains, there has been a serious condition of floods and landslide in many parts of the state, causing the normal life to become completely disturbed. Given the seriousness of the situation, the state government has ordered all schools and colleges to be closed with immediate effect in view of the safety of students.

The most impact of rain is being seen in the capital Imphal and its surrounding areas. The water level of several major rivers, including the Imphal River, has crossed the danger mark, causing their water to enter many residential areas and important institutions in the city.

One of the largest hospitals in the state, the most frightening of the flood, was seen in JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences), where patients had to shift to safe places through boats due to water filling on the ground floor of the hospital. Apart from this, people are facing a lot of trouble due to water entering many government offices, markets and thousands of houses.

Why did the government stop school-colleges?

The state government has taken this decision by giving top priority to the safety of the students.
