Even after 8 weeks of earthquake in Japan, 10 thousand people are forced to live in shelters

On January 1, a powerful earthquake struck the Noto Peninsula in central Japan. More than 2 months after the devastating earthquake, more than 1,000 people are forced to take shelter in shelters. According to Japanese media, the number of houses damaged by the earthquake in Ishikawa Prefecture has increased to 75,661. Debris removal, water supply and temporary housing are being prepared in the earthquake affected province. However, about 21880 houses and factories etc. in Noto area are still not supplied with water.

It has become a challenge to continue providing assistance to earthquake affected people. Last Sunday, a volunteer group of university students visited a shelter near the city of Suzu. Here he spent time with the people and tried to provide some facilities. There are some shelter sites where earthquake victims do not get adequate assistance. In a camp in Wajima city, it is difficult to prepare two meals a day for 140 people. For this they depend on restaurants and nearby help centers in Ishikala and other areas.
