What information can be updated?
There have been many updates in the EPFO system. The latest update is that members can easily access their personal account without submitting any documents. This includes their name, date of birth, gender, nationality, parents’ name, marital status, spouse’s name, entry and exit dates and other information.
Who will get this facility?
EPFO has said that this facility is for those members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) has been verified with Aadhaar. The objective of this process is to reduce complaints and expedite disposal of pending applications. Previously, changes required verification from the employer, which took approximately 28 days.
Aadhaar and PAN should also be linked
Now about 45 percent of the requests can be approved by the member himself. The other 50 per cent can be settled only with the approval of the employer without the involvement of EPFO. However, for this, members have to ensure that their Aadhaar and PAN are linked to the EPF account, as it is mandatory for any update or withdrawal. Without this, there may be a delay in completing the request.
What will be the whole process?
According to PIB, currently about 27 percent of the complaints filed by members are related to profile and KYC issues… It is believed that the new process will reduce these complaints significantly.
For profile change, the member does not need to submit documents and wait for the employer’s approval. For this, UAN will have to be linked to Aadhaar. Members will have to request an update by logging into the EPFO portal or UMANG app.
