Dragon Siege! India made a great strategic move with the countries suffering from China, ‘Two birds with one stone’, PM Modi’s masterstroke Encircling the Dragon! India has struck two birds with one stone in a strategic move with countries threatened by China, a masterstroke by PM Modi.

To destroy China’s ever-increasing assertiveness and aggressive expansionist policies in the Indo-Pacific region, India has started working on a very aggressive and unprecedented dual strategy. The strategists sitting in New Delhi have made it clear that India will no longer depend only on multilateral forums to show China its status. On one hand, India is putting an international siege to Beijing through powerful global groupings like Quad and ASEAN, while on the other hand, it is strengthening its bilateral defense relations with the major island and coastal countries of the Indian Ocean so rapidly that it has become difficult for the dragon to keep up. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Australia, the agreements signed between the two countries regarding deployment of aircraft, joint defense research, innovation and state-of-the-art defense initiatives have changed the entire equation of security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Amidst America’s changing stance, dependence on Quad alone ends, India’s new independent policy

Military experts and senior diplomats in international affairs believe that this new stance of India is extremely far-sighted from the geopolitical point of view. Due to major changes in the internal political and strategic priorities of the United States of America in recent times, the Quad organization has not appeared as aggressive or active on the ground as it should have been. At such a critical juncture, India made it clear that it will not rely on any external superpower to deal with the challenge of China. This new policy of ‘killing two birds with one stone’ of India is not only making its sovereignty and security in the Indian Ocean infallible, but is also providing a very strong and credible alternative to the countries threatened by Beijing’s debt trap and military bullying.

India’s support to the countries trapped in debt trap, the way to go to China’s side through defense deals is closed.

Under this new defense diplomacy, India is especially focusing on those Oceanic countries which are either deeply troubled by Chinese intrusion or have suffered huge economic losses due to its expansionist policies. The biggest example in this series is that of Sri Lanka, where India has recently spoiled Beijing’s strategic plans by completely acquiring a strategic defense production factory. Along with this, taking the defense cooperation with Indonesia to a new peak, India has taken charge of the development of the strategic Sabang Port there, which will keep India a direct eye on the Strait of Malacca. Moreover, India’s in-principle decision to supply India’s indigenous BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and Astra missiles to Indonesia is being considered a major blow to China’s claims of naval hegemony.

India’s military armor strengthened from Singapore to Seychelles, dominance of indigenous weapons increased in the global market

This aggressive defense policy of India is not limited only to big countries, but is reaching every corner of the Indian Ocean where China wanted to increase its naval presence. India has given new dimensions to cooperation with Singapore not only on the military front but also in the defense industrial sector. At the same time, in the strategically important island country Seychelles, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken the backbone of China’s Maritime Silk Route project by announcing the immediate appointment of four Indian defense advisors. Through this entire strategy, India is not only making its maritime borders impenetrable, but is also establishing itself as a major global defense exporter by selling its state-of-the-art Make-in-India defense equipment and weapons to all these countries, which is a direct challenge to China’s trade monopoly.
