Trump said praising Modi

Former US President Donald Trump has described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his good friend and a very intelligent person. He hoped that positive results of the ongoing conversation between India and the US on the trade fee would be revealed. The statement came at a time when Trump has constantly criticized the high fees imposed by India and other countries on American products.

Comment on fee on India

Speaking at the White House, Trump said that Prime Minister Modi had come to America recently and there have always been good relations between us. He said that India is one of the countries in the world that charge the most import duty. Describing it inappropriate, he said that Modi is a very clever and sensible leader, and the conversation between us was good. Trump also said that India and America will remain strong.

Modi’s visit to Washington and business issues

Prime Minister Modi visited Washington DC in February and discussed bilateral matters with President Trump. The visit took place shortly after Modi’s second term. Trump has already said that India imposes more fees on American goods. He also reiterated that the new fee from the US on countries levied on US products will be applicable from April 2.
