India has changed! Foreign Minister S Jaishankar enumerated the biggest achievements of PM Modi's 12-year tenure.

There are always discussions in the country and the world about Indian politics and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the global stage. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has presented to the people of the country and the world a very comprehensive and detailed account of the historic tenure of PM Modi for almost 12 years so far. The Foreign Minister said in blunt words that in these 12 years, India has not only become strong internally, but the country’s credibility and thinking at the international level has completely changed. According to Jaishankar, since 2014, the pace that the country has gained on the front of development, diplomacy, infrastructure and national security has put India in the ranks of the top powers of the world.

Revolutionary change in global diplomacy and independent foreign policy

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the most that in the last 12 years, India’s foreign policy has become very aggressive and self-reliant instead of being defensive. Whereas earlier India preferred to remain silent on global crises or wait for the decisions of others, today India is playing the role of a troubleshooter and peacemaker in major disputes of the world. Despite heavy pressure from Western countries during the Russia-Ukraine war, India kept its national interests paramount and continued to buy cheap oil for the country’s citizens. The Foreign Minister said that today the world not only listens to India’s voice but also respects India’s stance on global forums.

Digital revolution and unprecedented transformation of infrastructure

Referring to the changes taking place within the country, the Foreign Minister said that during the tenure of PM Modi, India has left the entire world behind in the field of digital technology. Today, India’s UPI and digital payment system has become an example at the global level, which many developed countries want to implement in their countries. Along with this, there has been a revolutionary change in the basic infrastructure of the country in the last 12 years. National Highways being built at record speed, modern railway stations, semi-high speed trains like Vande Bharat and new airports have made business and common life very easy by connecting every corner of the country.

The living standards of crores of people improved through welfare schemes.

Jaishankar credited the government’s biggest success on the domestic front to poor welfare schemes. He said that schemes like free ration scheme, free treatment under Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Har Ghar Jal have empowered the people at the lowest rung of the country. Taking crores of people out of the poverty line in these 12 years has been the biggest social and economic achievement of the Modi government. Even during a severe global crisis like the Corona epidemic, the government not only provided free vaccines to its citizens, but also made the slogan of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ come true by helping dozens of needy countries of the world through Vaccine Maitri.

National security and strong policy of ‘no tolerance’

Highlighting the major changes on the security front, the External Affairs Minister made it clear that now there is no compromise on the security of India’s borders. Referring to the surgical and air strikes conducted after the Uri and Pulwama attacks, he said that India’s ‘no tolerance’ policy against terrorism has given a clear message to the enemies that India now knows how to respond by entering home. Be it standing firm on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China or stopping cross-border infiltration, in the 12 years of the Modi government, the country’s defense system has become many times more modern and self-reliant than before.
