News India Live, Digital Desk: This is a big good news for crores of members of the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Sometimes it becomes a big headache to see how much money is deposited in the PF account. Website running slowly, crashing frequently or taking hours to load is a common problem, especially when PF interest is credited. To end this problem, the Ministry of Labor and Employment has ‘EPFO Passbook Lite’ A new and wonderful feature has been launched named.
So what is this ‘Lite’ Passbook and how will it do your hours of work in seconds? Let us know.
What is this ‘EPFO Passbook Lite’ version?
As the name suggests, ‘Passbook Lite’ is a ‘lightweight’ i.e. mini version of your main EPFO portal. It is designed for only one purpose – Showing you your current PF balance at rocket speed.
It is just like the Facebook Lite or Twitter Lite app present in your phone, which gives you the most important information with less data and less time.
So how is it different from the real passbook?
It is important to understand the difference between the two:
- Main EPFO Passbook: When you login to the main portal, you see the complete horoscope of your account. When, in which month, how much money was deposited, how much interest was received – i.e. complete detailed information. You can also download your passbook from here and file a claim. But all this takes a long time to load.
- EPFO Passbook Lite: It just shows you a ‘tableau’. Its job is only to tell you what is the current balance in your account and what contributions have been made recently. You cannot download passbook or make any claim from here. it’s just ‘View Only’ That means it is only for viewing, but it does the work in seconds.
Why was there a need for this?
The biggest challenge faced by EPFO is whenever PF interest is credited or any major update comes. At that time lakhs of people visit the website simultaneously to check their balance. This puts a huge pressure on the main server and it comes to a standstill like a traffic jam.
The ‘Passbook Lite’ feature is designed to reduce this traffic. Those who just want to check their balance will move to this ‘Lite’ version, allowing the main portal to continue to function smoothly for those who need to download a passbook or make a claim.
How to use?
For this you do not have to download any new app. This facility is available as a separate option on the existing portal of EPFO itself. All you need to do is login with your UAN number and password, and you will be able to check your balance instantly.
So next time whenever you just want to check your PF balance and you are short of time, instead of hitting the main portal, use this ‘Lite’ version and save time.
