Lucknow: With the beginning of the new academic session, District Magistrate Visakh ji has taken a tough stance on the complaints of private schools increasing fees and pressure to forcibly buy materials. In a high-level meeting held with the District School Inspector (DIOS) and Basic Education Officer (BSA) on Friday, the DM has issued strict guidelines to stop the arbitrariness of schools.

‘Lock’ on uniform for 5 years: The District Magistrate clarified that no school will be able to change the uniform every one or two years. minimum 5 academic session Only after this can consideration be given to changing the dress.
Ban on purchasing from specific shops: Forcing students or parents to purchase books, shoes, socks or uniforms from any particular shop is strictly prohibited. Punitive action will be taken against schools that do so.
Essentials of NCERT: In schools where NCERT curriculum is applicable, studies will be conducted only from NCERT books. Publish books of big private publishers will be considered a violation of the rules.
Fee increase limit: Fees can be increased only within the limit of Consumer Price Index (CPI) + 5%. Apart from this, any kind of capitation fee Taking is strictly prohibited.
Transparency: Every school will have to give complete details of fees on its website and notice board and give duly receipted receipt for every payment.
Joint team formed for investigation

Inspection Team: A joint team of Regional Sub District Magistrate (SDM), Additional Municipal Magistrate (ACM) and Principals of government schools has been formed. This team will conduct surprise inspection of schools.
Who can complain? Students, parents or any member of the parent-teacher association can complain about fee increase or other irregularities.

The District Magistrate has warned that if any school is found guilty during the investigation, a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh can be imposed on it. In serious cases, the recognition of the school can even be cancelled.
The DM has instructed all the SDMs to coordinate with the education department in their respective areas and keep a constant vigil so that the parents are not exploited.
