Delay in Pakistan’s preparations, clouds of crisis hosted on hosting tournament

Cricket ICC championstrophy stad

There are now only 20 days left in the beginning of the Champions Trophy, but the preparations for the tournament in Pakistan are still incomplete. The deadline for the construction of the stadium is being increased repeatedly, while the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not yet announced its team.

Pakistan could not declare its squad till now

According to ICC rules, every team has to announce their squad a month before the tournament starts. 7 out of 8 teams have announced their squad, but Pakistan is behind in this matter. This has led to the question that Pakistan has regretted hosting the Champions Trophy?

Stadium is not ready, tournament can be shift

The ICC had funded $ 70 million to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025, but despite this the stadiums of Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore are not yet fully prepared. PCB has sought time till 5 February. If the stadium is not ready till then, then the entire tournament can be shifted outside Pakistan.

India has already refused to go to Pakistan

Due to political tension, India has refused to play in Pakistan, due to which the tournament will be played in the hybrid model. The Indian team will play all their matches in UAE (Dubai). If Pakistan is unable to prepare the stadium on time, the ICC may decide to shift the entire tournament to UAE.

What is the reason for the delay in the announcement of the squad?

Pakistan has not yet announced its team for the Champions Trophy. The main reason behind this is Sam Ayub’s fitness. According to Cricket Pakistan’s report, PCB Sam wants to give Ayub maximum time to prove fitness. If he does not fit on time, Shaan Masood can replace him, and Fakhar Zaman may return to the team.

PCB can announce the team for the Champions Trophy and TRAI ODI series in the first three days of February.

Pakistan’s TRAI-Nation Series also in danger?

Significantly, TRAI-Nation ODI series will be played with Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand from 8 February. But if the preparations are not completed on time, then this series can also cloud of crisis.

Now the thing to see will be whether PCB is able to prepare the stadium on time, and will Pakistan be able to maintain its host?
