The report by ADR, the leaders and the voluntary organization, who monitored the electoral process in the country, said that 17 women MPs and MLAs in the country have declared themselves billionaires, while 28 percent of women MPs and MLAs have criminal cases registered. The Lok Sabha has six out of 75 women MPs, three out of 37 in Rajya Sabha, and eight out of 400 female MLAs in states and union territories.

This report has been prepared by ADR on the basis of affidavits presented by 512 from a total of 513 women MPs and MLAs in the country. This report states that 143 or 28% of women MPs and MLAs have declared that criminal cases are registered against them.

Bihar tops Bihar in criminal cases against MPs and MLAs
According to the report, some states have a large number of women MPs with criminal records. Bihar probably tops the list with the highest number of 15 women MPs and MLAs. In Bihar, 15 out of 35 women MPs and MLAs have criminal cases registered.
The highest number of cases against women MPs in BJP
From the party’s perspective, the BJP has the highest number of 217 women MPs, out of which 23% are criminal cases. Out of a total of 83 women MPs and MLAs of Congress, 34% are criminal cases. Similarly, criminal cases are registered against 65% of TDP and 69% of the Aam Aadmi Party.
