Conspiracy to attack RAF Fairford airbase: Is any foreign country involved, Britain starts investigation

There was panic in the British security agencies and police department when a major conspiracy to attack a major military base used by America was revealed. The British Police on Monday officially shared the information that they are investigating very closely whether operatives working for any foreign country or foreign forces were behind this dangerous conspiracy to target the Fairford airbase of the Royal Air Force (RAF). Meanwhile, the process of releasing the five suspects arrested in this high-profile case has been initiated on stringent bail conditions.

This sensational case came to light on Sunday morning when five British citizens aged between 20 to 25 years living in London were detained by the anti-terrorism squad. An alert farmer in the local area had informed the police that three suspicious white vans were speeding towards RAF Fairford airbase. Let us tell you that Fairford is a very important military base of Britain, where American bomber aircraft are deployed and are used in conducting operations and strategic missions against Iran.

Addressing the media, Britain’s counter-terrorism police chief Lawrence Taylor clarified that the five suspects, who were arrested on suspicion of serious explosives offenses and planning a terrorist attack, will be released on Monday under strict legal bail conditions. However, the police have also made it clear that the bail of the suspects does not at all mean that the investigation into the case has ended.

Speaking outside London police headquarters, Lawrence Taylor said: “To be clear, this does not mean that our investigation has closed. All of those suspects remain the subject of our extensive investigation as our intelligence and investigative teams continue to explore the many different aspects and international links of this sensational case.”

There have been big reactions to this entire incident even at the international level. US President Donald Trump, while speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, said that this entire incident could be directly related to Iran. Along with this, he gave his sharp reaction and said that if this matter was in his hands, then under any circumstances he would not have released such suspects on bail so easily. “I don’t do that at all,” Trump said bluntly.

In this series, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also claimed in a program on Fox News Network that whatever happened in Britain over the weekend is a very serious national security issue and there is clearly involvement of some foreign party or country in it. However, no concrete public evidence has yet been shared by US officials to support this claim.

On the other hand, the Iranian Embassy in London has completely rejected all these claims of American and Western countries. An official statement issued by the Iranian Embassy said that the recent speculations being spread about his involvement are completely baseless, fabricated and malicious, which they strongly condemn. The Embassy believes that the purpose of such propaganda is to promote a feeling of ‘Iranophobia’ within Britain.

Meanwhile, news is coming from diplomatic circles that Gulf country Qatar can play the role of mediator to reduce this entire diplomatic tension. A senior official with inside knowledge of the talks said that Qatari mediators will hold separate rounds of talks in New York with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the American side. It is believed that in these meetings the revised form of the proposal recently presented by Iran will be mainly discussed.
