This political clash has come at a critical time when Tamil Nadu politics is heating up with the crucial assembly by-elections to be held on October 6. Of. While addressing the public, he asked whether both the traditional political parties are sitting in an internal compromise among themselves and whether the pain of the daughters who are pleading for justice in front of the public will continue to be covered up like this.
According to information received from sources associated with Tamil Nadu Police and investigating agencies, an FIR was registered against Veeramani under serious charges, but he was not even arrested during the then DMK rule. The investigating officers of that time had filed a closure report in the court, calling the case very weak and citing technical reasons like lack of sufficient evidence, due to which the case was put on hold. When this episode was legally reviewed after the change of power, it came to light that the investigation into the case was deliberately diverted. Chief Minister Vijay alleged that without the protection of power, it was not possible for any accused to get a free hand and stop the investigation in such a serious POCSO case.
After the formation of the new government in the state, the legal turn in this entire matter came when the Special POCSO Court completely rejected the closure report submitted by the previous police investigation. Considering the seriousness of the case, the court gave strict orders for an independent and impartial additional investigation. The new Special Investigation Team formed on the instructions of the court, acting swiftly, arrested the main accused Veermani and his two associates on August 29. After this, on the orders of the court, the three accused were sent directly behind the bars of Puzhal Central Jail in Chennai. During this fresh and prompt investigation, the police not only traced the original victim, the minor girl, but also got her statement duly recorded under the Code of Criminal Procedure before the competent magistrate of the court.
According to the police investigation, this entire sensational scandal started in October 2025 when an alert child rights activist approached the Anti-Vice Squad (AVS) with evidence related to the crime. The activist had found a hidden USB drive, which contained a video clip in which the main accused, Veeramani, could be clearly seen seriously sexually assaulting a minor girl. Forensic and field investigation by the police revealed that the time when the crime was committed was the year 2019 and the victim was actually a minor at that time. Apart from this, in the latest status report presented in the court, the police has also given sensational information that by expanding the scope of investigation, many other women have also been identified, who were minor at the time of the crime and their statements have also been recorded.
In this case, now layers of not only sexual crimes but also financial corruption done to influence the investigation are being revealed.
