The government has issued an official notification, with which preparations to start the census process across the country have intensified. According to the plan, the first phase of the census will be conducted between April 1 and September 30 this year. This campaign will be run simultaneously in all the states and union territories of the country.

‘Caste Census’ will be digital for the first time in independent India

The Central Government has taken a historic decision regarding this year’s census. For the first time in the 2027 census, caste related information will also be collected from the citizens of the country. The most important thing is that all this data will be collected through digital means. This will be the first time in the history of independent India that caste data is being formally included during the official census. The aim of the government is to effectively deliver the benefits of government schemes to every section of the society through this accurate data.

There was a delay for the first time in history due to Covid

How important the census work is in India can be gauged from the fact that it never stopped even during the Second World War and wars with neighboring countries. But, for the first time in the history of independent India, the census to be held in 2021 had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier, the slogan of the 15th census conducted in 2011 was “Our census, our future”. This delay in the census was expected to affect many national and regional plans, because the new census will decide the direction of India’s progress in the future.
