Cambodia Appeals for Ceasefire after Violent Border Clashes with Thailand

News India Live, Digital Desk: Cambodia has immediately called for a ceasefire after deadly clashes on the border with Thailand. Recently, in a conflict between the two countries, many soldiers lost their lives and the long -standing regional dispute in the region once again took a dangerous form.

This new violence is part of the ongoing dispute between the two neighboring countries over the ownership of the Preh Vihar temple. The border area around the UNESCO World Heritage Site Preh Vihar Temple has been a center of tension between the two countries for a long time. Although the International Court of Court declared the temple a part of the Cambodian region in 1962, the two countries often come face to face with the route leading to the temple and some areas around the temple.

The Cambodian government has appealed to Thailand to stop its military actions and find solutions through negotiations. They believe that such armed clashes pose a threat to good relations and regional stability between the two countries. Emphasis has been laid on the need to find diplomatic avenues to both sides and respect international laws and agreements.

The international community has also expressed concern over this growing stress and urged both sides to exercise restraint. Regional organizations like ASEAN (ASEAN) are trying to help in the direction of peaceful solutions by intervening in this matter. These clashes have not only damaged life and property, but have also disrupted the life of the border population and have also negatively impact investment and tourism in the region.

This ceasefire call from Cambodia has come from the hope that the cycle of violence stops and the two countries should return to the conversation table. To establish permanent peace in the future, there will be a need for confidence and long-term solutions to maintain peace and security in the area.
