West Bengal BJP: What? Are the BJP leaders of Hindi belt failing to understand the mind of Bengal? BJP leader Tathagata Roy dropped the bomb with explosive comments. MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay, close to Shubhendu, raised questions on the role of the central leadership. This time the top leadership of BJP is counting on the leaders of the Hindi belt to ‘win Bengal’. Assembly elections are near in Bengal. After winning Anga and Kalinga, the saffron camp’s target is now ‘Banga’. BJP has formed ‘Team Bengal’ keeping the 2026 elections in mind.
Assembly elections in Bengal are to be held in March-April 2026. The saffron camp is giving extra importance to this election. After winning Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had warned of winning Bengal. Before Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Bengal in December, the central leadership of BJP has started preparing for the election campaign. The saffron camp has once again expressed confidence in the leadership of other states for the responsibility of voting in Bengal. BJP has created ‘Team Bengal’ by dividing the state into six regions. Experienced organizers, leaders and ministers from different parts of the country have been given the responsibility of these important areas. According to party sources, its main goal is to break the district level dominance of Trinamool and strengthen the organization at the booth level.
Purulia, Bankura and Burdwan are still considered by the BJP as among the most promising districts of West Bengal. Therefore, party sources say that special attention has been paid to this area. Chhattisgarh’s Organization Secretary Pawan Sai has been given the responsibility of this area. Uttarakhand Minister Dhan Singh Rawat will accompany him. Although BJP had a strong hold in this region in 2019, the party has lost Bankura and Burdwan seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The charge of Howrah, Hooghly and Midnapore is with Delhi’s Organization Secretary Pawan Rana. Haryana leader Sanjay Bhatia has the additional responsibility of Howrah-Hooghly. And the charge of Midnapore is with Uttar Pradesh Minister JPS Rathore. Besides this, the BJP has deployed skilled organizing secretary M Siddhartha from Himachal and senior leader CT Ravi from Karnataka to make a dent in the Trinamool stronghold of Kolkata and South 24 Parganas, which are also among the Trinamool strongholds.
In-charge of Nabadwip and North 24 Parganas, two politically sensitive districts, are Andhra Pradesh organizing secretary N Madhukar and Western Uttar Pradesh leader Suresh Rana. The in-charge of Malda is Ananth Narayan Mishra of Arunachal Pradesh and the in-charge of Siliguri is Karnataka’s organizing secretary Arun Binnadike.
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari has been given the responsibility of Darjeeling and the hilly areas, which are the BJP’s stronghold. Whereas former Union Minister Kailash Chaudhary will work aggressively in the Cooch Behar-Alipurduar region.
A few days ago, former BJP state president Tathagata Roy had made a bombshell post on social media. He said, “It is not right for leaders to come from other states, it is generally right. The thinking of the people of the Hindi belt is different from the thinking of the people of Bengal. The way people of the Hindi belt assess caste, it does not happen in West Bengal. People in West Bengal do not vote on the basis of caste. Bringing a leader like Kailash Vijayvargiya to West Bengal was a mistake. We had to come to power in 2021, we have paid the price of the mistake.” Along with this he wrote on his
