News India Live, Digital Desk: There is a disappointing news for the people dreaming of better connectivity in Bihar. Central Government of Bihar three major road projects Has been refused approval at present. The stalling of these projects has not only affected the plan to ease traffic, but has also raised question marks on their budget and construction time frame.
What are those 3 major projects?
The projects which have been objected to by the Center or which have been put on hold for the time being, include:
Expansion of Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four lane: There was a proposal to widen parts of this important road connecting the capital to the Jharkhand border.
Hajipur-Muzaffarpur Corridor: There was a plan to strengthen this road, which is considered the lifeline of North Bihar.
A major link road of Seemanchal: Which was considered important from strategic and commercial point of view.
Why is the screw stuck? Center gave these 3 big reasons
According to sources, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given the following reasons behind not giving green signal to these projects:
Land Acquisition: In many parts, non-completion of the land acquisition process and disputes related to compensation to farmers are the biggest obstacles.
Shortcomings in Funding and DPR: The Center believes that the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of these projects lack some technical and financial clarity.
Environmental Clearance: Parts of some roads are passing through forest areas or sensitive areas, for which the necessary NOC has not been received yet.
What will be the next strategy of Nitish government?
Officials of Bihar’s Road Construction Department say that they are studying the Centre’s objections. The state government is trying to bring these projects back on track by sending revised proposals as soon as possible. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also instructed the officials that the matters related to land acquisition should be resolved on priority basis.
The construction of these roads was to ease trade and movement not only within Bihar but also with neighboring states. Now it remains to be seen how long this coordination will last between the state and the centre.
