Bihar Elections 2025: Seat distribution done! BJP-JDU on par, Chirag-Manjhi got so many seats

Posts

The chessboard has started being laid for the assembly elections 2025 in Bihar and the biggest news is coming from the camp of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). After a long period of speculations and rounds of meetings, the seat distribution among the NDA allies has finally been finalised. This time, BJP and JDU have decided to contest elections on equal number of seats, ending the ‘elder-younger brother’ debate.

What is the new formula of seat sharing?

The formula decided for the total 243 seats of Bihar Assembly is as follows:

  • BJP: Will contest elections on 101 seats.
  • JDU: Will contest elections on 101 seats.
  • LJP (Ram Vilas) – Chirag Paswan: 23 seats.
  • HAM – Jitan Ram Manjhi: 13 seats.
  • RLMO (RLM) – Upendra Kushwaha: 5 seats.

No ‘big brother’ this time

Ever since its spectacular performance in the Lok Sabha elections, speculations were being made that this time BJP would like to play the role of ‘elder brother’ in the assembly elections. But to maintain the unity of the alliance, both the major parties have tried to give a positive message by deciding to contest on 101-101 seats. This decision is also being seen as a big relief for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Chirag and Manjhi also got respect

In this division, every effort has been made to pacify Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi also. Chirag Paswan’s party getting 23 seats shows that his stature has increased in NDA. At the same time, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party ‘Hum’ has been given 13 seats, while Upendra Kushwaha’s party has got 5 seats.

With the announcement of this seat sharing, NDA has made it clear that it will contest the elections unitedly. Now it will be interesting to see what strategy the opposition grand alliance adopts after this division.
