Big shock from October 1, AC, TV, fridge and washing machine will become expensive by 8%

Just before the beginning of this festive season, a very big and disappointing news is coming out for Indian consumers. If you are planning to buy a new air conditioner (AC), LED TV, refrigerator or washing machine for your home in the coming days, then now you will have to spend more money in your pocket. The country’s major consumer electronics and home appliances manufacturing companies have decided to drastically increase the prices of their products by 5% to 8% from October 1. This inflation, which has come on the cusp of the festive season, is certain to have a direct impact on the household budget of the common man.

Why are AC, TV, fridge and other home appliances becoming expensive?

This major step has been taken due to the continuous rise in the prices of raw materials used in the manufacturing of home appliances. Manufacturers say that globally the prices of derivatives related to copper, aluminium, steel and crude oil have increased significantly. Additionally, fluctuations in logistics, ocean freight costs and foreign exchange due to the crisis in West Asia and global geopolitical tensions have severely impacted the profit margins of companies. This is the third time the electronics industry has increased prices during the year 2026, due to which the cost pressure is now reaching consumers directly.

Which major brands’ products will be most affected?

Almost all the big brands in the country and abroad are going to come under the ambit of this price increase. Big companies like Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have confirmed price hike ranging from 4% to 10% in various categories. LG and Bosch Home Comfort (which manufactures Hitachi brand ACs) have also increased the prices of their air conditioners by about 5%. At the same time, companies like Panasonic are currently closely assessing the current market conditions.

How much will the prices increase on different appliances and what is the opinion of experts

According to industry experts, the maximum price increase of 5% to 8% will be seen in the AC (Air Conditioners) segment. Apart from this, the prices of washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs are being increased by 3% to 4%. Some companies working in the TV and display segment believe that up to 20% additional weight may be incurred on small screen size TVs and up to 10% on large screen size TVs. However, this impact may be partially mitigated in the initial days as some dealers already have old stock in their inventory, but in the long run, customers will have to pay increased prices.
