The wait of lakhs of Sanatani devotees is now about to end. Preparations for the holy Amarnath Yatra of the year 2026 have reached their final stage. A huge enthusiasm is being seen among the devotees coming from India and abroad to have the darshan of Baba Barfani situated amidst the inaccessible hills of the Himalayas. Keeping in mind the safety and ease of the yatra, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has issued special guidelines and route map for this year. If you are also planning to visit Baba Amarnath this year, then it is very important for you to know the exact date of commencement of the journey and the complete process of registration.
Amarnath Yatra 2026 is starting from this date
This year, this holy journey of Baba Barfani will start from the second half of June and end on the day of Rakshabandhan in August. The Shrine Board and the Jammu and Kashmir administration have made tight security arrangements on both the traditional routes—Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and Baltal route in Ganderbal district. This time, advanced satellite tracking and AI-based crowd management system is being used, so that the devotees do not have to face any kind of chaos or jam on the high hilly roads.
Step-by-step method to register online at home
Online registration is considered the best way to avoid crowding and secure your quota. For this, devotees will have to visit the official website of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. Click on the ‘Registration’ link there and fill in your preferred travel date, route (Pahalgam or Baltal) and personal details. Along with the online form, you will have to upload a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued by an authorized doctor and a passport size photograph. Your Yatra Permit will be available for download as soon as you pay the fees online.
How to get pass through offline registration and banks
Arrangements for offline registration have also been made for those devotees who are not technically comfortable. For this, select branches of Punjab National Bank (PNB), Jammu & Kashmir Bank (J&K Bank) and State Bank of India (SBI) have been authorized across the country. Devotees will have to visit the branches of these banks, fill the prescribed form and submit their original health certificate. Apart from this, for those passengers who are not able to book in advance, the facility of ‘Tatkal Registration’ (on-the-spot registration) will also be made available on limited seating basis at the local centers in Jammu and Srinagar.
Keep these things in mind before setting out on a trip
The climb to Amarnath ji passes through high altitude and low oxygen areas, so the Shrine Board has clarified that people below 13 years of age and above 70 years of age will not be allowed to undertake the yatra. Along with this, there will be a ban on this journey for women who are more than six months pregnant. It will be mandatory for all pilgrims to wear a valid RFID card, which can be obtained from Jammu or Base Camp. The administration has appealed that devotees should not forget to keep warm clothes, raincoats and essential medicines with them.
