Big initiative for education reform in UP: Now schools will open from June 25 every year, teachers will get cashless medical treatment of ₹ 5 lakh


Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, work has started on a comprehensive action plan to completely transform the basic education system of the state, making it quality and result-oriented. In this sequence, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Basic and Secondary Education Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, through a special YouTube live session, interacted directly with teachers, Shikshamitras, instructors, ARP, SRG and DIET mentors from across the state and shared the upcoming priorities of the government.

During this dialogue, many big and historic decisions have been announced regarding the operation of council schools (government schools) of Uttar Pradesh, teachers’ welfare and student enrollment.

Compensation for loss of education due to heat: Now schools will open from June 25 every year

Additional Chief Secretary said that due to extreme heat and heat wave, school holidays have to be extended again and again, which causes huge loss of children’s education.

  • Target of 220 teaching days: It is mandatory to ensure a minimum of 220 instructional days for children as per the norms of the National Education Policy (NEP).

  • New rule: To fulfill this target, now all the council schools of Uttar Pradesh will operate from June 25 every year (i.e. schools have opened from today). He has appealed to the teachers to warmly welcome the children coming to school and make special arrangements for their health and safety in view of the scorching heat.

Second phase of ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ from July 1: Special emphasis on preventing dropouts

The government is adopting a new strategy to ensure 100% enrollment in the state and reduce the number of dropouts to zero:

  • Local data help: In the second phase of ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ starting from July 1, children left out of school will be identified. For this, the help of birth records and local information available with ASHA workers will be taken.

  • Uninterrupted Access: Every student passing Class 5 will be ensured seamless and compulsory admission to Class 6. Special for children who are lagging behind in learning ‘Catch-up Classes’ Will be operated.

Nipun Bharat Mission extended to Class 5: ‘Nipun Sankalp’ on 6th July

The government has taken a big decision regarding ‘Nipun Bharat Mission’ to strengthen Basic Literacy and Numeracy (FLN):

  • Scope increased: Earlier this mission was for initial classes, but now its scope till class 5 has been exceeded. Now clear learning outcomes (learning goals) have been set for children up to Class 5 in Language, English, Mathematics and Environmental Studies (EVS).

  • Teachers training: For this, training of SRG and diet mentors has started at the state level, who will train the teachers at the block level. upcoming 6th July ‘Nipun Sankalp Workshop’ will be organized in all the districts of the state, in which a resolution will be taken to make ‘Nipun District’ by mobilizing the entire administrative and academic system.

‘DEAR’ campaign and holistic progress report will be given twice a year

Additional Chief Secretary has given several new instructions to improve the learning environment in schools:

  • DEAR Campaign: Activities like ‘Drop Everything and Read’ (DEAR) will be promoted in schools, where a culture of reading books only will be developed by stopping all work for a certain time.

  • Parent Participation: The ‘Holistic Progress Report’ of children will now be made more effective and will be compulsorily shared with parents twice a year so that they can also be a part of the child’s progress.

Big gift for teachers: Cashless treatment facility of ₹ 5 lakh and 21,000 new recruitments

On the initiative of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, two very important announcements have been made to strengthen the human resources of the Education Department and social security of teachers:
