News India Live, Digital Desk: Samajwadi Party chief and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the Yogi government, revealing a major corruption in the Transport Department of Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that there are 1671 government bus drivers in the state, who are drawing salaries regularly every month without driving even a single kilometre. Terming it as ‘grand corruption’ of the BJP government, he has asked the Chief Minister whether his ‘bulldozer’ will also run on this government loot.

50% drivers record ‘zero kilometres’: Akhilesh’s big claim

Citing the alleged figures of the Transport Department, Akhilesh Yadav wrote on the social media platform The surprising thing is that almost half of these drivers i.e. 50% have a running record of ‘zero kilometres’. Calling it a well-planned ‘crooked business’, the SP chief said that the public tax money is being distributed to those who are not working.

“Don’t use bulldozers on buses, use them on corruption.”

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘bulldozer’ policy, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Honorable Chief Minister, after this revelation, do not pretend to use bulldozers on buses. If you have to use bulldozers, then use them on the corrupt practices of the responsible ministers and officials of the department.” He alleged that the roots of this corruption are very deep and its share reaches ‘to the top’, that is why despite such a big scam, the government continues to ‘look kindly’ on the culprits.

General public is in distress, transport system is in bad shape

The SP chief slammed the government, citing the problems faced by the public during summer holidays and festivals. He said that on one hand the common passengers are forced to suffer due to shortage of buses and poor transport system, while on the other hand the BJP government is licking the transport department like termites. According to Akhilesh, this kind of traffic disruption is directly hurting the state’s economy. He sarcastically said that BJP talks about ‘trillion dollar economy’, but in reality it is busy in creating a ‘trillion dollar system’ to fill its pockets.

In his familiar style, Akhilesh Yadav consoled the public and said that the “bad days” of the state are about to end. Giving a new slogan, he wrote, ‘If BJP goes, it will work’. However, no official clarification or response has yet come from the Transport Department or the BJP on these serious allegations. There is also an uproar in the department over the time limit for the data shared by Akhilesh and the period for such a large group of drivers to take pay without work.
