Big alert from Meteorological Department before the arrival of monsoon, warning of thunderstorm and hailstorm in these states including Delhi-UP!

The entire North and Central India is currently in the grip of scorching heat. In most of the states of the country, the scorching heat of the sun and the rising mercury are bent upon breaking new records every day. Amidst this scorching heat, now everyone’s eyes are fixed towards the sky and people are eagerly waiting for the monsoon. However, no final official announcement has been made by the Meteorological Department yet as to where the monsoon has reached at present and when it will hit the mainland of the country. But meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a new and bigger weather bulletin, which has brought relief at some places and increased concern at others.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather pattern is going to change in the next few days in states like Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan and there is a possibility of light to moderate rain. However, before this relief, severe heat wave (loo) will continue at some places and the maximum day temperature will remain above 45 degrees Celsius. How far has the monsoon reached? When will there be entry in Keralam?

The biggest question in the minds of the common people, who are suffering from the scorching sun and humidity, is that for how long will the monsoon drench the country. Earlier, meteorologists had expressed hope that monsoon may hit the coastal areas of Kerala before time around May 26, but according to the latest weather charts, this did not happen. Now it is believed that the monsoon will enter the coastal areas of Kerala at its scheduled and normal time. Let us tell you that the normal and standard date of entry of monsoon in Keralam is considered to be June 1, after which it gradually advances to the rest of the country.

Mood will change in hilly states from tomorrow, alert of strong winds

According to the latest bulletin of IMD, the weather is going to take a turn due to the active Western Disturbance in the hilly areas of North India. There are chances of light to moderate rain in some higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Uttarakhand between May 28 and 30. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of strong thunderstorms and cold winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in different areas of these three hilly states, due to which a drop in temperature will be recorded.

Warning of hailstorm and dust storm in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and UP

Talking about the plains, a change in the atmosphere can be seen in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh and Western Uttar Pradesh from the evening of 27th May itself.

  • Rainy season: According to the department, there is a strong possibility of moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and strong lightning at isolated places in many areas in these plain states between May 28 and May 31, 2026.

  • hailstorm: Issuing an alert, IMD has said that on May 28 and 29, sporadic hailstorm may also occur in some selected areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

  • desert Storm: Additionally, there is a possibility of high-speed dust storm at some places in the sandy areas of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on May 28 and 29, which may affect visibility.

‘Yellow alert’ of heavy rain in many cities of Kerala

Even though there are still a few days left for the main monsoon to arrive in Keralam, due to pre-monsoon activities the Meteorological Department has already taken charge of heavy rains there. IMD has issued ‘Yellow Alert’ in view of the possibility of torrential rains in four major coastal and interior districts of Kerala. The places where the administration has been asked to remain alert include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam. Fishermen of these districts have also been instructed to be cautious of the high waves of the sea.
