Delhi pollution level today: Preparations for Diwali are in full swing – houses are being decorated, sweets are being made and there is happiness in the hearts. But at present the air of Delhi is not filled with happiness but is mixed with poison. This is the sixth consecutive day that Delhi’s air has remained ‘bad’, and even before the festival night arrives, the situation has worsened to such an extent that this celebration can take a toll on our health.

The figures of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) are scary. Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) on Sunday morning was 274, which is considered ‘poor’. But that’s just average! It seems as if many areas of the city have turned into ‘gas chambers’.

  • Anand Vihar In 2017, the AQI reached 426, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. This air attacks the lungs directly and is extremely dangerous for children, the elderly or people with respiratory diseases.

This fire is not limited to Delhi only

If you are thinking that this is the situation only in Delhi, then you are wrong. NCR cities are also in the grip of suffocating air:

  • Noida and Gurugram The AQI in India is at 342, which is ‘very poor’.
  • ghaziabad ka loni The area is also struggling to breathe with an AQI of 341.

Where did so much poison come from suddenly?

At present, there are three main culprits behind the blanket of smog in the sky of Delhi:

  1. Vehicle smoke: At present, the largest share in pollution (about 16%) is due to smoke emitted from vehicles.
  2. Upcoming Fireworks: Firecrackers burnt on Diwali will make this air even more deadly.
  3. Stubble Smoke: The smoke of stubble coming from nearby states is making this poison even more intense.

Experts have warned that these three ‘villains’ together can send Delhi’s air into ‘severe’ category in the coming days.

Doctors and officials are all saying the same thing – go out of the house as little as possible, and even if you have to go out, wear a mask. And the biggest appeal is that do not burn firecrackers this Diwali, so that the light of Diwali does not turn into darkness of health.
