As soon as the month of December begins, the bell rings for the end of the year. Along with this, many important deadlines related to taxes, government schemes and important documents also come to their end. If you are also postponing any work related to PAN-Aadhaar linking, filling ITR or ration card thinking that “we will do it tomorrow”, then be careful now.
By December 31, 2025, you have to complete some important tasks for which the government may not give you a second chance. These works are directly related to your bank account, investments and government benefits. Let us know which are those 5 tasks.
1. Last date for filing advance tax (15 December)
If your total tax liability (after deducting TDS) exceeds ₹ 10,000 in a year, then you have to pay advance tax. The last date for depositing its third installment is 15th December. If you miss this date, you may have to pay both interest and penalty.
2. Last chance to file late ITR
For those who could not file their Income Tax Return (ITR) on time for the financial year 2024-25, this is the last chance for them. You can file your return with late fees till 31st December. The late fee is ₹1,000 for those with income less than ₹5 lakh and ₹5,000 for those with income above ₹5 lakh. If you are not able to file the return even till 31st December, you will not get a chance after that.
3. PAN-Aadhaar link, otherwise PAN is useless!
This is one of the most important tasks. If your Aadhar card is made on or before October 1, 2024, then the last date to link it with your PAN card is December 31, 2025. If you don’t do this:
- Your PAN card will become inactive.
- You will not be able to do bank related work properly.
- Demat and investment related transactions will stop.
- You will also not be able to file ITR.
4. E-KYC of ration card is very important
In many states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan, the last date for getting e-KYC of ration card is also ending in December. If you do not complete this work by December, you may stop getting government ration from January 2026.
5. The dream of building a house will be fulfilled (PM Awas Yojana)
The last date to apply for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, under which financial assistance of up to Rs 2.5 lakh is available from the government for building a house, is also 31st December. If you want to avail the benefits of this scheme, you can apply online with your Aadhar card, income certificate and residence certificate.
Therefore, do not postpone these tasks for tomorrow and complete them on time so that you do not have to face any kind of problem in the new year.
