Assam: UPPL and AGP won one seat each

Guwahati, June 04 (HS). UPPL and AGP have won one seat each under the BJP alliance in Assam. According to the data released by the Election Commission, United People's Party, Liberal candidate Joyanta Basumatari won from Kokrajhar seat under the BJP alliance by getting a total of 488995 votes. Basumatari defeated Bodoland People's Front candidate Khampha Borgyari by a margin of 51583 votes. Borgyari got a total of 437412 votes. While Congress candidate Garjan Musahari got 113736 votes, Gana Suraksha Party candidate Binita Deka got 94189 votes. Apart from this, many other candidates also tried their luck from Kokrajhar seat. While, a total of 13912 votes were cast on NOTA.

Fani Bhushan Choudhary, the Assam Gana Parishad candidate under the BJP alliance, won the Barpeta seat by getting a total of 860113 votes. Choudhary defeated Congress candidate Deep Bayan by a margin of 222351 votes. Deep Bayan got a total of 637762 votes. Manoranjan Talukdar of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) got 96133 votes, and Abul Kalam Azad of TMC got 16413 votes. Apart from this, many other candidates also contested from the Barpeta seat, who did not get success. A total of 17109 votes were cast on NOTA.
