New Delhi: The host of the next year’s Asia Cup 2025 and the event is expected to be a cloud of uncertainty, as the important meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is being held in Dhaka today. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will now be included in this important meeting.

According to the information, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla will participate online in this annual general meeting (AGM) to be held on 24 July 2025 today. The main agenda of the meeting is to decide on the venue, format and future of the Asia Cup 2025.

Let me tell you that the BCCI had earlier opposed the meeting of this meeting in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, due to the ongoing geopolitical tension between India and Bangladesh and concerns of other countries (Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Oman). The BCCI had also demanded to change the venue, but ACC President Mohsin Naqvi was adamant on organizing the meeting in Dhaka itself.

The most important in this meeting is to decide where the Asia Cup 2025 will be played. Originally India has to host it, but given the political conditions, it is possible that the tournament between India and Pakistan is held on a neutral venue like UAE. Also, the situation regarding India’s participation is not yet clear, as it will depend on the political situation.

According to the ACC rules, the validity of any decision taken in the absence of major member countries may be questioned. In this way, BCCI’s virtual attendance attending the meeting, being considered a positive step towards resolving the matter.
