Delhi Assembly elections are approaching, and the political turmoil has intensified. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is trying to reach out to voters of every section to retain its power. This time the party has taken steps towards wooing health and fitness professionals. Wrestlers, bodybuilders and fitness influencers joined the party in the presence of party convenor Arvind Kejriwal at the AAP office on Thursday.
Fitness community welcomed in AAP
Fitness influencers Tilakraj, Rohit Dalal and Akshay Dilawari took membership of AAP at an event organized on Thursday. Arvind Kejriwal included him in the party by wearing the party symbol scarf and cap.
Kejriwal said, “Around 70-80 bodybuilders and wrestlers have joined the party today. This step will not only strengthen the organization but will also bring it closer to health and fitness issues.”
Party’s new alliance with players and gym owners
Kejriwal promised that if AAP returns to power, it will solve the problems of the players. He said that many more gym owners and fitness professionals are planning to join AAP.
This move of AAP is also getting support from the fitness community of Delhi. Outgoing Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal said that those who decided to join the party have made impressive contributions to the gym and fitness sector of Delhi. These people will help in carrying forward the mission of the party.
Increasing participation of sports fraternity
On this occasion, Rohit Dalal said, “AAP has done commendable work for the players and gyms. I want to contribute to this mission.” At the same time, Tilakraj expressed happiness over the increase in political participation of the sports community and said, “Many players from Delhi are planning to join our team. We will work hard to strengthen the party.”
AAP eyes third consecutive victory
Aam Aadmi Party is trying to return to power for the third time. In the 2020 assembly elections, the party won 62 out of 70 seats. There is a direct contest in Delhi from BJP, which had won 8 seats last time.
Congress’s declining credibility
The Congress, which once had a strong hold on Delhi politics and was in power for 15 years under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, has failed to win a single seat in two consecutive elections. This time too, Congress’s performance looks challenging.
