A case has come to light from Nanded, Maharashtra which has brought tears to the eyes of every listener. We often see in films that ‘love is immortal’, but a girl named Aanchal proved it in reality. Her lover Saksham Tate was brutally murdered, but what she did at the cremation ground became an example.
This story is about those chains of love, hatred and caste, which still hold our society in the 21st century.
Caste became a wall and brothers became enemies.
20 year old Saksham Tate and Aanchal were in love with each other for the last three years. Ironically, Aanchal met Saksham through her brothers. Saksham used to visit her house and it was from here that love blossomed. Everything was going well, but when the matter reached marriage, ‘caste’ came in the way.
The girl’s family did not approve of this relationship. They put pressure on Aanchal and gave threats, but Aanchal did not give up. When her father and brothers got wind that she was going to marry Saksham, they were shocked on Thursday. They beat Saksham badly, shot him and when they were not satisfied with all this, they crushed his head with a stone.
Dams of patience broken at the crematorium
The real story started after Saksham’s death. When his last rites were being performed, Aanchal reached there. The atmosphere was sad, everyone was crying. Aanchal applied turmeric on her lover’s cold body and applied vermilion on her forehead in front of the crowd.
She married her dead lover and announced to the world that from today onwards she is Saksham’s wife.
“My love won, my father lost”
This step of Aanchal was a slap on the face of her family. Crying but firmly she said, “Despite Saksham’s death, our love won and my father and brothers lost. Saksham may be gone, but our love lives on.”
Not only this, this brave girl has sworn that she will serve Saksham’s parents for the rest of her life by becoming his widow and will live as their daughter-in-law in their house. She has demanded from the police that her lover’s murderers (who are her own father and brother) should be given death sentence.
police action
At present, the police has shown speed in this honor killing case and arrested 6 accused. But the question remains the same – for how long will love continue to be strangled in the name of caste? Saksham is gone, but this sacrifice of Aanchal has forced the society to think about a lot.
