After the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the situation as extremely sensitive and ‘high risk’, the Indian government has also come into full action mode. The Central Government has issued a very strict health and travel advisory keeping in mind the safety of the countrymen.

Strict instructions not to travel to these countries, dozens of deaths

The Health Ministry of the Government of India has advised the citizens of the country to completely avoid non-essential travel to highly affected African countries like Congo, Uganda and South Sudan. Ebola virus cases are increasing at lightning speed in these countries and till now dozens of people have lost their lives due to it. Congo has been the main center of this virus for a long time, but this time the new variants that have emerged there have given medical experts sleepless nights.

Situation out of control in Congo, number of suspected patients crosses 900

The reports coming from the African continent are very scary. The ‘Bundibugyo Strain’ Ebola virus is spreading rapidly in the eastern part of Congo. According to information shared by the Congolese government on the official social media handle ‘X’, the number of suspected Ebola cases in the country has increased to 904, while 119 suspicious deaths have been recorded so far. Due to neighboring countries Uganda and South Sudan sharing their borders with Congo and the poor health system there, the infection is getting out of control there too.

How dangerous is Ebola? Symptoms of bleeding from body parts

According to doctors, Ebola is a highly infectious and deadly virus, with a very high mortality rate. This virus spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids like sweat, vomit, blood, saliva or semen of an infected person. When affected by it, the patient experiences high fever, unbearable pain in the muscles, vomiting, diarrhea and in severe cases, bleeding from internal and external organs of the body.

Thermal scanning started at Indian airports, suspects will be isolated immediately

To keep India safe from this virus, the government has tightened security at the international borders. Stringent thermal and medical screening of all international passengers arriving from Congo, Uganda, South Sudan or their neighboring countries has been made mandatory at major airports and ports in India. If any symptom similar to Ebola is found in any passenger, he will be sent to the isolation center directly from the airport through a special ambulance.

Special wards made in hospitals of Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru

Major government hospitals in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata have been put on alert to deal with the emergency. Instructions have been given to prepare special isolation wards with full facilities for suspected Ebola patients in these hospitals. Along with this, all Indian citizens who have returned after traveling to Africa within the last 21 days (incubation period of Ebola) have been appealed to immediately share their travel history with the health authorities without hiding it if they feel even slightly unwell.
