Holiday: There will be a holiday in this district of Punjab tomorrow, notification issued | News India

Holiday: Like every year, this year too, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Sri Darbar Sahib, the centres of devotion from the country and abroad, are being decorated with flowers on the occasion of the first Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The work of flower service has been started from Monday by the traders of Delhi and the special sevadars of the Guru's house.

It is worth mentioning that the first Prakash Parv celebration of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is on 4th September and the decoration work will be completed by then. This time also, decoration is being done with 50 tonnes of Indian and foreign varieties of flowers, which cost around Rs 5 crore. These flowers have been ordered from Kolkata, Delhi, Netherlands, Thailand and Singapore.

Around 100 artisans from Kolkata, Mathura, Delhi and UP etc. are decorating and designing the flowers and Sangat is also cooperating. Talking about the flowers used for decoration, there are at least 25 species of them, which include at least 25 varieties including Hydrangea macrophylla, Black Orchid, Cymbidium, Daisy and Penelope Poppy.

The Punjab government has declared a local holiday in Amritsar on September 4 on the occasion of the first Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. A state government spokesperson said that all Punjab government offices, boards/corporations and government educational institutions in Amritsar district will remain closed on Wednesday. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Personnel Department.
