Ranchi, August 21 (HS). A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Coal India's subsidiary Central Coalfields Limited and EdCIL India Limited for the installation of a smart class and an ICT lab in 193 government schools in eight districts of Jharkhand (Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Latehar, Chatra, Giridih and Pakur) under Project Digital Vidya.

The cost of installation, apart from local curriculum based digital content, teacher training and maintenance of equipment for 3 years, is funded by the company's CSR fund at a cost of Rs 26.13 crore. This initiative is in line with the vision of the Ministry of Coal to provide modern pedagogy to rural students by equipping government schools in coal mining districts with digital education.
