According to Customs officials, the AIU team arrested a woman passenger at Trichy airport on Tuesday. About 2,291 grams of gold worth Rs. 1.53 crore has been seized. Trichy Customs spokesperson said that on August 13, AIU officials at the airport seized 2,291 grams of gold items of 24 carat and 22 carat purity, worth about Rs. 1.53 crore. The gold was seized from a woman passenger who was trying to smuggle gold without informing the Customs, so that she could evade customs duty.
