Mumbai: BMCA has warned people to remain alert as jellyfish have been sighted on almost all beaches in Mumbai for the last three days.
When this jellyfish stings it causes excruciating pain and the bitten area turns red and heals.
Jellyfish have started appearing on beaches including Girgaum Chowpatty, Juhu, Versova and Dadar Shivajipark beach. This time the jellyfish have also come late due to late rains. Blue bottle jellyfish are mostly seen. The municipality has given a special warning that no one should try to touch this jellyfish attracted by its blue color and shape and children should be kept away from the beach.

Blue bottle jellyfish are poisonous. It looks like a blue solution filled in a plastic bag. This solution is poisonous. Jellyfish sting causes unbearable pain and swelling. To reduce this pain, it is advisable to first apply ice on that part and then go to the nearest hospital for treatment.
