Kolkata, July 24 (HS). Former Food Minister Jyotipriya Mallick was brought to SSKM Hospital from Presidency Correctional Home on Tuesday night. According to sources, the jail administration informed the hospital administration about his health condition at night.
On Wednesday morning, a source associated with the jail said that on the advice of doctors, he was taken to the Cardiology Emergency Department of the hospital in a jail ambulance. There, doctors from other departments including cardiology, medicine examined him. Some necessary tests were also done and medicines were given accordingly. However, the doctors did not find the need to admit him to the hospital, after which he was sent back to jail in the night itself.
It is noteworthy that the doctors of the medical board of PG Hospital examine Jyotipriya like other prisoners at regular intervals. Ever since he was taken into ED custody last year, he was under the observation of doctors in the Presidency Jail due to health problems. He was admitted to the cardiology department of PG Hospital when his blood pressure fell abnormally low. Then it was decided to send him to ICCU without any delay. The former food minister also has kidney and diabetes problems.
