Now Badrinath highway will open, road cleaning work is in full swing

The debris that fell on the Badrinath highway in Joshimath, Uttarakhand on Tuesday has become a problem for the pilgrims. More than 3,000 pilgrims are stranded on the highway closed due to the debris for the last 3 days. Hundreds of devotees returning from Badrinath during the Chardham Yatra have taken shelter in the Gurudwara. The work of removing the debris of the fallen mountain is going on on a war footing.

Preparing to clear the road

Joshimath-Badrinath highway has been blocked due to a huge rock falling from the mountain. The work of breaking the stone continued for three days, but no success was achieved. Now the stone is being broken by blasting. After blasting, the scattered debris has been started to be removed. It is expected that by this afternoon the debris will be removed and the road will be cleared.

An alternate route is being prepared

More than 3,000 devotees are stranded in Joshimath since last Tuesday due to debris on the highway. The road may open by this afternoon, as a big rock has broken off from the hill and fallen away. After removing the debris, preparations have been started to build an alternative road here. Two machines of the Border Roads Organisation are engaged in leveling the debris and preparing an alternative route.

Passengers are stranded

Due to the road being closed, more than 2,000 devotees are stranded in the Gurudwara located at Govind Ghat, the first stop of the Sikh pilgrimage site Hemkund Sahib. Out of which more than 1 thousand devotees were returning from Badrinath Yatra. Due to the road being closed ahead, they stop at Govind Ghat Gurudwara. More than 700 devotees have been detained in Joshimath Gurudwara, including 550 pilgrims returning from Hemkund and 150 pilgrims returning from Badrinath. According to Kotwal Joshimath Rakesh Chandra Bhatt, more than 500 small and big vehicles are stranded in Joshimath. The road is expected to open by 12 noon today.

Pilgrims got stuck, darshan was disrupted

The Badrinath National Highway, about 2 km from Joshimath, is closed since Tuesday due to a landslide. Due to this, people going on the Chardham Yatra are facing difficulties. People from different states of the country have come to visit Badrinath. They are waiting for the road to open so that these people can have darshan. Some people say that they come here every day and go back and find the road closed.
