Gwalior, July 10 (HS). Every act done against the dignity of a child with sexual misbehavior which dishonors the child is a crime under the POCSO Act. This was said by Special Judge POCSO Act Tarun Singh in the Paralegal Volunteer Training Program organized under the guidance of Principal District Judge and Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Gwalior.
In a one-day training organized at ADR Bhawan District Court premises on Wednesday, para legal volunteers were taught the nuances of working as support persons. On this occasion, Special Judge POCSO Act Tarun Singh provided detailed information regarding crime, investigation, trial, punishment, compensation and other relevant provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012.
In the program, District Judge and Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ashish Dwande gave information about the process of providing support person to provide assistance to the child victim of crime under Rule 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Rules 2020. Along with this, information was provided regarding the responsibilities of the support person at all levels from filing the First Information Report to the final decision and the limits of the support person etc.
In the program, District Legal Aid Officer Deepak Sharma called upon the para legal volunteers to actively participate in the 72-day tree plantation program running from 05 June 2024 Environment Day to 15 August 2024 Independence Day. On this occasion, Assistant District Public Prosecution Officer Ashish Rathore, Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Gwalior and Tehsil Legal Services Committee Dabra and employees of District Legal Services Authority were present.
