It is noteworthy that at the end of the G-7, the group of seven industrial countries announced the notification and showed their determination to pursue a concrete basic proposal like the India-Western Europe Economic Corridor IMEC. Apart from the road, a plan has been prepared to connect this project with high-speed railway as well. This announcement was made on Friday evening after a traditional group photo session at the luxury resort Borgo Egnazia. The G-7 also reiterated its commitment to an independent Indo-Pacific based on freedom and rule of law. Prime Minister Modi attended the G-7 summit at the invitation of Georgia Maloney against host Italy. The announcement said, we will promote the concrete resolutions, plans and comprehensive proposals of the G-7 to develop economic corridors through quality and investment.

India-West Asia-Europe Economic Corridor with High-Speed ​​Rail

The India-West Asia-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) project envisages a massive road, rail and shipping network between Saudi Arabia, India, the US and Europe to ensure connectivity between Asia, West Asia and the West. IMEC is also seen as an initiative by like-minded countries to gain strategic advantage against China's 'Belt and Road Initiative' (BRI). The BRI is a massive connectivity project that links China with South-East Asia, Central Asia, Russia and Europe. IMEC was finalised during the G20 summit in Delhi last year.

Prime Minister Modi's address at the G-7 summit on Friday surprised leaders from around the world. PM Modi's address announced outreach sessions on issues such as AI, energy, Africa and the Mediterranean.
