The ATM operators have raised the demand of increasing the interchange charge before RBI as well as NPCI. In such a situation, withdrawing money from ATM can become costly for the customers.
Hosts will now have to pay more charges for withdrawing money beyond the set limit. The interchange fee per transaction has been demanded to be increased by Rs. 23 by ATM operators. This will allow ATMs to get more funds and make operations easier. ATM operators said that there has been no increase since the interchange fee was increased two years ago.
The charges have not been increased in line with the huge increase in ATM transactions. Hence there is a demand to increase the interchange charge. The ATM Industry Council will increase the charge by Rs 21, while the ATM operators will increase it by Rs 21. There has been a demand to increase it to Rs 23. In 2021, the interchange charge was increased from Rs 15 to Rs 17.
