Ranchi, 14 February (HS). Global perspective and best practices related to just transition were discussed on Wednesday on the first day of the International Conference Sustainable Just Transition for Future Ready Jharkhand. This two-day workshop has been organized by the Task Force Sustainable Just Transition, Government of Jharkhand in collaboration with the Center for Environment and Energy Development Seed, United Nations Development Program and World Resources Institute India.
On this occasion, Chief Secretary Jharkhand L Khyangte said that the state government is committed that no one is left behind in this process of sustainable transition, hence it has been made inclusive and participatory. In this sequence, today is also a special day to discuss the best practices of the world to give direction to better policy making in the state.
He said that national and state level efforts are necessary for better results towards carbon neutral and climate friendly economy. On this occasion, retired IFS officer Chairman Task Force, Government of Jharkhand AK Rastogi said that this initiative will make an important contribution in marking the future steps of Jharkhand. Additional Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Forest and Environment Department, Manoj Singh said that it is necessary to adopt low carbon innovations and effective strategies suitable for the environment of Jharkhand.
