Lahore, 22 May (HS). Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi was released from Kot Lakhpat jail on Tuesday night. The Lahore High Court had ordered his release while granting him bail in a case related to alleged illegal appointments made to the Punjab Assembly during his tenure as Chief Minister.
Ilahi's lawyer Amir Saeed said that after being released from jail, PTI leader Zahoor Ilahi reached the Palace. There he met family members. Ilahi was taken to Kot Lakhpat jail earlier this month. Elahi has said, “I am grateful to the judges who supported the truth and I was released. I am grateful to everyone who prayed for me and supported me during this difficult time. The people of the state faced a lot of abuse and cruelty. Even our mandate was stolen.”
PTI leader Ilahi alleged that Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi “played the most important role” in getting him arrested. He said, “I was, am and will be with Imran Khan.”
