Kathua 20 May (Hindus). Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kathua Ashok Kumar Shavan visited District Jail Kathua to review the condition of prisoners and jail.
During the visit, the Chairman of DLSA Kathua inspected the jail premises to review the prevailing conditions and the condition of the prisoners lodged there. The Chairperson interacted with all the prisoners housed in various barracks and inquired about their health, quality of food and water being provided to them by the prison authorities and access to legal representation. He also inspected the facilities available in the jail like video conference hall, medical clinic room, legal aid clinic, cooking area and washroom.
The Chairperson also inquired about the status of jail prisoners whose cases are pending outside Kathua district and on the spot directed the LADC officials to register the grievances of the jail prisoners so that their grievances can be redressed in time. . On the spot, the Chairperson also instructed Superintendent District Jail Kathua to maintain proper cleanliness in the jail by fumigation and spraying in coordination with Municipal Committee Kathua. Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Kathua along with Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Kathua, officers of LADCS Kathua, as well as Chief Administrative Officer and Section Officer of Principal District and Sessions Court Kathua were also present.
