Treatment of congenital crooked leg of a child by differential distraction method.

Bikaner, 18 May (HS). With the continuous expansion of facilities, complex treatments are also being successfully carried out in the SDM Government District Hospital.

Superintendent Dr. Sunil Harsh said that Dr. Lokesh Soni and Dr. Sameer Panwar of the Orthopedics Department have removed the disability of a 13-year-old teenager through differential distraction method, a complex procedure without any incision for CTEV i.e. congenital crooked foot (club foot) in the hospital. has been successfully completely corrected, which is a big achievement in this field.

Orthopedic specialist of the hospital, Dr. Lokesh Soni said that CTEV is a congenital disability of children. In this, the legs are bent, which is successfully treated by serial casting. In this, the patient generally recovers from birth to one year of age. But in some special circumstances like rigid club foot, treatment with plaster is not possible and with the passage of time the complexity increases and its treatment becomes very difficult. In this case, thirteen year old teenager Panchu, who was suffering from this disability and had to start treatment for it at the time of birth. He came to the hospital for treatment after thirteen years, which increased the complexity of the case. Kishore's family had contacted Dr. Lokesh, the orthopedic OPD at the district hospital, two months ago, at that time he was unable to walk without support. Earlier, he was referred to big hospitals of Jaipur and Delhi, but due to lack of necessary expenses for the treatment, he could not be treated, but he was treated free of cost in the district hospital under the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana.

During treatment in the district hospital, the deformity was reduced by thirty percent by applying plaster in the first month, after which it was decided to operate. After that, an operation was performed and an external CTEV mesh was fitted in the leg, which was tightened for twenty-five days while being kept under constant surveillance. In this process, the disability of the victimized teenager was successfully completely cured and the Pirani score became zero.

Orthopedic specialist Dr. Sameer Panwar said that no incision has been made in this type of operation and there has been no damage of any kind to the bones, tendons and muscles. Now in about a month, the teenager will be able to walk easily without any support and lead a normal life. It is a rarity in itself to have this type of successful operation in adolescence. The team of Dr. Lokesh Soni, Dr. Praveen Pensia, Swaroop Singh, Inderpal, Sudesh etc. worked in this entire process.
