Indian Army's Bugyal Phachu Kandi tracking campaign begins

Jaipur, 18 May (HS). A fourteen member team of Dot On Target Division of Sapta Shakti Command started the challenging Bugyal Phachu Kandi (8936 feet) trekking expedition. This operation was flagged off by Major General Amit Talwar, General Officer Commanding, Dot on Target Division, at Hisar Cantonment on 18 May.

According to Public Relations Officer (Defence) Jaipur (Rajasthan) Colonel Amitabh Sharma, this difficult twelve-day trekking expedition will be conducted in Yamunotri Valley in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Phachu Kandi Pass has three main tracks which include Phulara Ridge Track, Saru Tal Track and Phachu Kandi Pass. This expedition will start from Mori in Uttarkashi and cover a distance of 156 kilometers and end at Phachu Kandi peak. The team comprising two commissioned officers, two junior commissioned officers and ten other ranks is led by Captain Shrit Mishra. Mountaineering as an adventure activity is regularly undertaken by the Indian Army. It inculcates valor, brotherhood and resilience in our soldiers.
