The White House Marine Band played India's patriotic song Saare Jahan Se Accha Hindustan Hamara for Asian Americans. Popular dishes from India including panipuri, samosas and sweets were also served to guests at an annual event held at the White House. This is the second time in less than a year that India's patriotic song has been played at the White House. The song was last played on June 23, 2023, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to the US. Indian American community leader Ajay Jain Bhutoria said the event reflects the strong ties between the US and India. This historic event was a White House initiative to mark 25 years of the US President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans, Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders.
US President Joe Biden also participated in this program. He welcomed and addressed the guests. Guests were served Panipuri, Samosa. The reception also included Indian street food, which included Panipuri, Samosa and other Indian sweets. According to Bhutoria, when I came here last year, Panipuri was served here. This time also I was looking for Panipuri and suddenly a server brought Panipuri. It was amazing. The taste of Panipuri should have been a little spicy but it was very good.
President Biden welcomed the guests
