Jhansi, 14 May (Hindus). A workshop on Solution Journalism was organized by Bhaskar Institute of Mass Communication and Journalism and Institution Innovation Council on Tuesday. In this, Shuchita Jha, National Trainer of Solution Journalism and alumnus of Journalism Institute, told the students in detail about Solution Journalism.
He said that India is currently moving from developing to developed countries. In such a situation, we have to keep in mind that we can avoid the challenges that the developed countries are facing today. This requires focusing on the characteristics of sustainable development.
Shuchita Jha said that without proper use of environment and natural resources, it is not possible for any country to come in the category of developed countries. Today there is a need that while reporting on topics like climate change, environment, wildlife, renewable energy etc., young journalists should also throw light on the solution of the problem. We need to assimilate the positive results and actions being taken in this direction at the global level. This does not mean that we should completely avoid criticism, rather our focus should be on the fact that we should not remain merely public relations officers of governments. Solution Journalism promotes criticism as well as efforts to bring about positive change.
In the workshop, five teams of 25 students were formed and they were given practical training in solution journalism. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Kaushal Tripathi and vote of thanks was given by Dr. Raghavendra Dixit. On this occasion, the institute's coordinator Dr. Jai Singh, Umesh Shukla, Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Dr. Shambhu Nath Ghosh, Govind Yadav, Devendra Singh along with graduate and post-graduate students were present.
