India has detected a breach in Pakistan's Gwadar port. New Delhi has signed a ten-year Chabahar port agreement with Iran. An agreement was signed between India and Iran on Monday for the management of Chabahar port, which will be India's first foreign port management venture. This means that now India will be able to manage Iran's Chabahar port for ten years. This agreement reflects India's strategic interest in Chabahar. Chabahar port is an important link with Afghanistan, Central Asia and the Eurasian region. Also, Chabahra port is an alternative to Pakistan's Gwadar and China's Belt and Road Initiative.
Minister Sarbananda Sonowal signed a long-term agreement between India Ports Global Limited and Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization for the operation of Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar. This agreement will increase India's connectivity with Afghanistan, Central Asia, Eurasia. This is the first time that India is operating a port abroad. This port is seen as an important link of India with Afghanistan, Central Asia and Eurasia. Which is India's answer to Pakistan's Gwadar Port and China's Belt and Road Initiative.
There is a plan to connect Chabahar port to the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC). This route also bypasses Pakistan while establishing a route from India to Russia via Iran.
